Tapit Colt ‘Reaches’ the Wire First in Arcadia

REACH THE WORLD (c, 3, Tapit–Reach the Stars {Ire}, by Galileo {Ire}) closed well to finish a length behind stablemate Dabster (Curlin) in his one-mile debut here Jan. 16 and came right back to score in wire to wire fashion Saturday. Bet down to heavy favoritism, he coasted along comfortably through fractions of :23.40 and :47.70 and found more when challenged by Honor and Courage (Unbridled’s Song) in upper stretch. Reach the World–who RNA’d for $975,000 as a Keeneland September yearling–crossed the wire three lengths in front, stopping the clock in 1:44.40 for 1 1/16 miles. Reach the Stars, a half-sister to 1998 champion older mare Escena (Strawberry Road {Aus}), sold for $850,000 carrying the winner at the 2013 Keeneland November Sale. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1, $38,880.
